A New URL For a New Blog, a New Year, and New Possibilities.

photo-19Well, here it goes. My first entry in a brand new blog that will eventually become my identity’s ‘home base’ on the web. I have to admit that this is a little intimidating, sitting here and staring at all of this presumptuous white space. There’s probably alot that I’ll need to say in order to gain your trust, interest and (then) attention. So how do I start going about doing all of that?

All that certainly seems like a massive task from where I’m sitting. This is the kind of mission that could easily intimidate a weaker soldier into chronic procrastination. Fortunately, I’ve fought my way through this sort of pre-battle hesitation a number of times before, and I know the drill.  As such, whenever I want to begin making something that seems unbearably challenging, I start making it.  Alas, from this perspective, it seems as though I’m already getting somewhere. Perfect.

In case you missed it in the blog title above, my name is Dan Dashnaw.  I’m a 36 year old male living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I’ve been here for about 10 years now, but I grew up in Westchester, New York - a suburb of NY City.  I have a wonderful wife and an amazing 11 month old son. In the name of brevity (which I admittedly need to practice), I’ll let the rest of my personal background info seep through when it makes sense, and spare you of any more formalities for the time being.

The purpose of this new blog is to solidify my online identity and ‘personal brand’, and to share what I know with those who may benefit from it. It’s that simple. I hope that you find this space (and therefore, me) to be a valuable use of your attention. I know that you have virtually unlimited options in this hyper-connected world of ours. It’s clear then that my job is to offer you a clear enough value to become one of your choices. This certainly sounds like an interesting and worthwhile challenge to me.

So, here’s to the many future words that have yet to be spilled.  I sincerely hope that you’ll read them when they land, and I promise to do my best to inspire you to want to. Let the games begin.
